Sometimes to be a good leader it pays to be a little bad, scientists have discovered.

While being outgoing, assertive, calm and decisive are the best qualities if you want to get ahead, it also helps to mix them up with a few negative traits too.

So the best bosses are also petty, arrogant and inflexible as well.
