While helping research this article, the author's roommate spent an afternoon in that paranoid state one might have after seeing a horror movie alone late at night. The phone would vibrate, she'd jump in surprise, and then check to make sure it was someone she knew calling her before she answered. There's a lot of scary stories out there about smartphone stalking and people stealing your personal information.

HTC Mobile was also present and presented several interesting mobile products during the Mobile World Congress in Spain, including the new HTC Legend Smartphone.
That was not really a surprise anymore, as several rumors already appeared at the end of 2009 wherein the HTC Legend, among others was named. But holding the final, functioning product in your hands is still always the moment of the first impression.
After the presentation we took the time to give the HTC Legend a more thorough look. The first thing that we noticed is that its solid, in terms of body quality, without making this new HTC smartphone heavy to hold.

One of the biggest and most remarkable booths at the Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona was Samsungs. It was remarkable and majestic, and at the same time with a spectacular introduction of the Samsung Wave, Samsungs first Bada smartphone with a amazing Super AMOLED display. And despite its large surface area, Samsung managed to keep the whole thing well-organized.
The different software Apps in combination with the new Samsung Wave Smartphone were displayed separately, each with a Samsung employee for the necessary text and explanation. This way, all the extensive function and application possibilities that a modern cell phone has these days, were well presented.

A bit hidden away, but we managed to find it eventually, was the Toshiba booth. Last year, Toshiba launched the TG01 Smartphone during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Then, a smartphone with the fastest processor available, but unfortunately the Toshiba TG01 Smartphone lacked true high-end technical specifications to beat last years competition.
The mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona gave Toshiba a second chance. The Toshiba TG02 did not really come as surprise. We had a look at the new Toshiba TG02 Windows Smartphone. The body of the new Toshiba smartphone seems to be a bit smaller, but the large screen has stayed.

In the gossip circles the tables seem to have been turned somewhat. The end of 2009 proved to produce a lot of attention for Google Android and its rare manufacturer-fans, but now we are seeing more sources surfacing with the necessary information about Windows Mobile 7.
There is talk of a Windows Phone 7 Business Edition OS, especially made for OEM phones with their own GUI as well. One of the first Windows cell phones that are named is the LG Apollo, which is probably the same model that we named as the possible LG Windows Mobile 7 phone for the third quarter of 2010. The MWC 2010 in Barcelona will surely provide more information about this.

Acers venture into mobile phone territory has so far been limited to handsets based on Microsofts Windows Mobile operating system. Certain models, such as the tasty S200 and F900, were pretty impressive, but there have been misses, too, including the very disappointing E101.
However, with the Liquid the company is finally venturing beyond Microsoft to give Android a try.
On paper, the results look exciting as the Liquid boasts a Snapdragon processor and capacitive screen.
As a result, we were keen to see whether it could give the likes of the HTC Hero a run for its money?

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Google Inc plans to sell its own cellphone direct to consumers as soon as next year, bypassing wireless operators in a rare strategic move, the Wall Street Journal cited sources as saying on Saturday.

Called the Nexus One and made by smartphone maker HTC, the phone will run on the search giant's Android operating system -- around which Motorola and other cellphone makers have built devices -- and will be sold online, the newspaper cited persons familiar with the matter as saying.

Cellular service will have to be bought separately, it added.
