SanDisk Corporation introduced its latest solid state drive (SSD) products. The SanDisk SSD G4 serves as a drop-in replacement for hard disk drives (HDD) in notebooks; while the SanDisk SSD P4, the successor to the widely used pSSD modular drive, enables designers to offer even thinner netbook and tablet computers.
The new drives offer a unique balance of performance, high-capacity storage and long-term reliability. SanDisk SSD P4 and SanDisk SSD G4 offer up to 128 gigabytes (GB) and 256GB of storage respectively, double the capacities of the companys previous SSD offerings. The SanDisk SSD G4 and SanDisk SSD P4 are currently being evaluated by top tier OEMs.

Micron Technology introduced the RealSSD C300 solid-state drive (SSD), the fastest Micron SSD for notebook and desktop personal computers (PCs).

The Micron RealSSD C300 drive is the first to leverage the SATA 6Gb/s interface, providing read speeds of up to 355 megabytes per second (MB/s) and write speeds of up to 215MB/s. The RealSSD C300 drive is the first to use ONFI 2.1 high-speed synchronous NAND.
Leveraging Microns industry-leading 34-nanometer (nm) multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash memory, Microns RealSSD C300 drive - available in 128 gigabyte (GB) and 256GB capacities - is now sampling in limited quantities. The Micron SSD drives will be available in 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch form factors.

SanDisk Corporation announced that the 64-gigabyte (GB) SanDisk pSSD Gen2 solid state drive was selected by Sony as the SSD of choice for its new VAIO X ultra-thin laptop.
SSD for laptop (Solid State Drive) use no moving parts, enabling improved durability that helps prevent data loss resulting from drive failure. Computers with SSD run quieter and cooler, and use less power than conventional hard disk drives (HDD).
The SanDisk pSSD drives small size complements ultra-thin laptops with small form factor requirements.
SanDisk pSSD Generation 2 drives support Windows XP, Linux, and Windows 7, the operating system of choice for the Sony VAIO X laptop.
