Land Rover has pulled the wraps off of its newest model, a luxury, compact SUV dubbed the Range Rover Evoque. Based on the LRX concept that debuted in 2008, the Evoque's two-door design makes it the smallest, lightest Range Rover ever; it's expected to be the most fuel efficient, as well.

The Pentax Optio W90 was announced about a month ago. Its the latest waterproof, shockproof point-and-shoot camera from Pentax. I got a sneak peek at the W90 at the PMA tradeshow, the day before it was announced. I made sure they knew I wanted one as soon as it was available. Pentax was the first camera company to make a waterproof digital camera (Pentax Optio WP), way back in 2005. Waterproof cameras have come a long way since then and the new W90 is no exception. Its a 12-megapixel camera with 720p video and its waterproof to 20 feet and can withstand drops from 4 feet. Its the perfect camera for active outdoor people.

Canon's latest full-frame, pro digital SLR offers 21.1 megapixels of resolution as well as 1080p HD video capture. The sensitivity range is ISO 100 to 6400, expandable to ISO 25600. The EOS 5D Mark II also has a new 920k resolution, 3-inch Clear View LCD with Live View; and the DIGIC 4 processor can capture 3.9 frames-per-second at full resolution.

Micro Four Thirds fans, listen up! The Olympus E-P2 digital camera has landed and Olympus sent me one to check out for a few days before they made the announcement! Its predecessor, the Olympus E-P1 was one of the surprise hits of the summer. The Olympus E-P2 is more or less the same camera as the E-P1 with a few important new features. The most obvious difference is the sexy new black finish. But it goes deeper than that. Most important is the new Accessory Port and included Articulating EVF (electronic viewfinder). The rest of changes are internal.

The new Canon PowerShot S90 showed up at my door last week. The S-Series cameras have been missing from the Canon PowerShot lineup for a few years. Essentially, the S-Series offers G-Series image quality and performance in a pocket-sized package. Like previous S-Series PowerShot digital cameras, the Canon S90 has the same 10-megapixel sensor as its big brother, the G11. For people who want G11 image quality on the trail, in their pocket, in the briefcase or in their purse, its the camera to have.

It may still be September, but tech firms are gearing up for the holidays. Last week in New York, tech firms pulled the curtain back on their holiday parade of gear.
