Whoever visited the Mobile World Congress themselves could not get around Samsung. With one of the largest and most colorful booths, Samsung presented itself optimally, in our opinion. Of course there already was attention for the Samsung Wave, but also the Samsung Monte S5620 received the necessary attention. Although we truly had to look for it... The Samsung Monte S5620 is a mobile phone meant for the masses, or rather, it is a mid-range handset. The 3-inch display is just a bit smaller than the remarkable high-end cell phones, but it does have a WQVGA resolution and the most recent TouchWiz interface. All in all it is a pretty interesting Smartphone from Samsung, and worth taking a look at.
According to president Lu Yimin, president of China Unicom, it just might be possible that the amount of 3G subscribers or providers will raise significantly the world over if the cell phone manufacturers are successful in lowering the prices of the 3G smartphones. The amounts of high-end 3G phones are available in high numbers, but there are not many entry-level models. And according to Lu Yimin, that's where there are more chances for success. Huawei Technologies has in any case understood that and presented several low-priced 3G phones during the MWC 2010 in Barcelona. And when both companies have their way, this could mean quite a boost in sales.
Manufacturer Sony Ericsson was also present during the Mobile World Congress. Only Sony Ericssons booth was not really remarkable. There was little attention for the Sony Ericsson brand; you could walk right by it without noticing it. We were able to count the name Sony Ericsson only twice on the booth. This is a strange choice made by the designer of this booth. Of course it all depends on the product portfolio that Sony Ericsson presented, which was quite a weighty presentation. No less than Sir Howard String, CEO of Sony, expressed that Sony is far but finished with Sony Ericsson

Nuances T9 and XT9 are the industrys most widely adopted predictive text technologies that make it faster and easier for consumers to send text messages and e-mails, and quickly type URLs via any keypad format, including standard and touchscreen 12-key and QWERTY keypads.
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Google Inc plans to sell its own cellphone direct to consumers as soon as next year, bypassing wireless operators in a rare strategic move, the Wall Street Journal cited sources as saying on Saturday.
Called the Nexus One and made by smartphone maker HTC, the phone will run on the search giant's Android operating system -- around which Motorola and other cellphone makers have built devices -- and will be sold online, the newspaper cited persons familiar with the matter as saying.
Cellular service will have to be bought separately, it added.
ScienceDaily (Nov. 19, 2009) In everything from computer processor chips to car engines to electric powerplants, the need to get rid of excess heat creates a major source of inefficiency. But new research points the way to a technology that might make it possible to harvest much of that wasted heat and turn it into usable electricity.
That kind of waste-energy harvesting might, for example, lead to cellphones with double the talk time, laptop computers that can operate twice as long before needing to be plugged in, or power plants that put out more electricity for a given amount of fuel, says Peter Hagelstein, co-author of a paper on the new concept appearing in November in the Journal of Applied Physics.
