Sony was a latecomer to digital SLRs. But dont let that fool you into thinking they dont have game. About six years ago they bought all of Konica-Minoltas digital SLR patents and a few months later they released their digital SLR, the Sony Alpha A100. There was a lot of skepticism about Sonys ability to make a competitive digital SLR. But the A100 showed the doubters that Sony was serious and capable. Sony has since proved their commitment to the digital SLR market after their last round of announcements (August 2011) theyve arguably become the most innovative DSLR manufacturer.
The Nikon D7000 is official. And I do think its a category crusher. Its a 16-megapixel DX-format digital SLR with 1080p HD video and full-time continuous auto focus. It uses Nikons latest EXPEED 2 image processing for, low-light ability never before seen in a DX-format (APS-C) camera. Adding to the performance, the D7000 also has a brand new 39-point auto focus system, a new 2,016-pixel RGB 3D Matrix Metering System and a 6 frames per second burst rate for up to 100 frames! Nikon obviously means business with this camera. Like the D90, it looks like the D7000 could be the new crop-sensor / prosumer benchmark camera.
Nikon is pleased to announce that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has placed an order for eleven Nikon D3S digital SLR cameras and seven AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED lenses to be used for photographic documentation. The Nikon D3S digital SLR cameras and AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED lenses ordered by NASA will be carried on the Space Shuttle and used to photograph activities at the International Space Station (ISS) in the future. No special modifications will be made to these products. They will be the same products available to end-users, confirming the incredible versatility of the Nikon D3S SLR camera.
The Photography Bay made the crucial spot and also broke down the patent to discover the touchscreen will not just be for navigation, but for adjusting settings with gesture controls. Primary to these will be swiping vertically to change aperture values and horizontally to adjust shutter speed. Focus detection area, flash adjustment correction, photometry mode (metering mode), Drive, ISO value, auto focus, white balance and exposure correction will also all be finger friendly. more...
With the arrival of the new digital system cameras such as Ricoh GXR and Micro Four Thirds, we not only hoped to have compact dimensions and improved qualities, but secretly also a revolutionary new camera design. Because why hold onto a camera system that was set as a standard many decennia ago, that keeps getting improved and reintroduced by camera manufacturers? Erin Fong, Industrial Design student from the California College of the Arts, has very different ideas about that and comes up with the so-called Nova DSLR camera. Erin Fong made this camera design concept wherein mobility and flexibility seem to be central.
DIWA (Digital Imaging Websites Association), a organization of collaborating websites, honors the Panasonic GF1 with a DIWA Gold Award. DIWA Awards are based on test results carried out in the DIWA Labs, and evaluations on more than 200 different criteria carried out by DIWA members. The Panasonic Lumix GF1 features a stylish design and a high-quality finishing touch. The camera is based on the Micro Four Thirds System, as a result of which the dimensions of the GF1 are kept strikingly small. The extremely compact Micro Four Thirds lenses fit the Panasonic Lumix GF1 perfectly. Its 12.1 Megapixels of resolution and the optimized ISO sensitivities make the GF1 a proper alternative to a DSLR.
Pentax K7 review : The DSLR market is dominated by Nikon and Canon and they certainly keep an eye on each other. However, this is something that often proves to have a somewhat negative influence on the creativity of the manufacturers, as it generally means they lose a little bit of their daring. Fortunately however, there are also smaller brands such as Pentax.
These smaller brands do not need to worry about whether or not they are number one. They just make cameras the way they think they should be. A little cocky at times, but that is only healthy. more...
Recently, letsgodigital.org have seen the introduction of various Sony Alpha DSLR cameras already known to the public at the time of introduction, caused by a leak on a Sony registration page.
There was also talk of the Sony Alpha A750, that up until this day has not yet officially been launched. However, strong evidence indicates that the Sony A750 launch is about to take place. Various rumors are floating around on the Internet; for instance, the existence of a Sony full-frame sensor featuring 14.6 effective Megapixels.
The gap between the Sony Alpha A550 and A850 is far too big when it comes to price, and should really be filled in order to connect with the semi-pro DSLR segment.
Nikon's quest for speed spawned the Usain Bolt of DSLRs, keen on showboatin' a full-frame, 12.1-megapixel image sensor that fires up to nine frames per second. Truth is, this pro-level camera's blazing speed is just a start. The 51-point focusing system and autofocus tracking put the D3 right on your subject, with flawless exposures that make big, beautiful prints. The user interface is classic-Nikon easy, with an LCD so sharp it's like watching HDTV.
